Lee Langan
July 29, 1932 – August 20, 2023
Beloved Lee passed away at home after 91 vibrant years of living. He was a character with character and leaves a grand influence on many. Lee was a particularly curious, humorous, and engaged elder (eventually), remaining active in certain social circles through August. Along with wife Karine and dog Louis, Lee is affectionately known in their neighborhood, deeply rooted in San Francisco.
Should you have a story, musing, photo, or other memory about Lee to share, we’ll be publishing some here for all who adored him to appreciate, with respect for any privacy wished.
If you’d like to be notified about an in-person gathering, currently planned for Spring 2024 in San Francisco, please contact the family at the email address below.

“[Lee] was a gentleman’s gentleman, with a deep understanding and compassion that permeated every aspect of his being. But where his kindness was most bright, was in his gentle and caring nature for his friends and all those that he met along the way.”
- Richard Garriott de Cayeux, President, The Explorers Club (Read the full letter to members.)

Beloved dog Louis was welcomed into the family in October 2011 and followed Lee eleven days after his passing on August 31, 2023. “A common belief across the Mesoamerican region is that a dog carries the newly deceased across a body of water in the afterlife.” (Wikipedia)
